Sports Day

This Monday and Wednesday were the Sports days of my school. I joined the 40mX10 and 4X100m with my students. At first i were quite worried about it as i have not joined such games for 4 years. I thought that i would not have enough energy to finish the race or to compete with those kids. Luckily, our team won the 1st runner up in 4X100m and 2nd runner up in 40mX10. Later i will try to upload some photos here.

a trip to New Zealand

I spent two weeks in NZ this summer. I went there with my students and a colleague. To me, it is quite a valuable experience. Though I have travelled to the States and stayed there for a month, i have never tried living with homestay families. To live in a homestay, you need to speak in English all the time, and you have got the chance to experience the local culture, especially their life styles and food.

Relatively, NZ is a quite quiet country with beautiful scenery. Shops there close at 5 except Thursday, they open their shops may be one or two hours longer. Kiwis do not have much entertainment, so people from HK may feel bored if they really live there.

My host mum, Sally, has her own style of living. She is an energetic, cheerful and caring lady, who always cooks delicious food for me and my students. My host brother Simon is a music students, he always plays the same bit of melody as he is trying to write a song.

Living with Mira and Zoe is also another interesting experience. I just cannot imagine how young kids can get use to their life there without their parents and with English all around. Anyway, we all enjoyed the trip!

being a student again

this year i have applied for the diploma of English studies at Polyu, and have to take two modules this semester -- phonology and morthodology.

after taking four lessons, i prefer morthodology to phonology. maybe i like writing, i also like studying words, like its history background, its meaning, its formation etc. i hope that i can enjoy every lesson conducted by Dr. Li. By the way, Dr. Li is a very interesting lecturer, and she is energetic too.

Moving to my new home

I've moved into my new flat for almost 2 weeks. It's really cool that now i can have my own room (privacy), and can have a room for work. At the same time, i have to pay for the mortgage, as well as different kinds of fees. My mindset has changed a lot, i begin to aware of saving money by using less water, gas and electricity, i put an eye on the news of rate changing, and sigh when i know that the rate has been raised, i have to force myself to confront "enemies" like those flying insects and tons of housework... i guess even Peter Pan also needs to grow up if he becomes an owner of a flat, and i am only Tinkerbelli, no wonder i have a sense of growing up.
